Arabic coffee etiquette: serve it like a true host
Who holds the dallah, how much to pour, and when a guest shakes the cup: a quick guide to Gulf coffee customs.

The host holds the dallah in the left hand and the cups in the right, starts with the eldest or most honored guest, then continues to the right.
Pour only a little, no more than a third of the cup, so the coffee stays hot and is refilled often. When a guest has had enough, they gently shake the cup before handing it back.
The dallah and cups are part of the story: a polished brass dallah with simply decorated cups gives the gathering its heritage feel without overdoing it.
